Common questions about heat pump installation.
Do heat pumps actually work in Massachusetts winters?
Modern cold-climate heat pumps (Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat, LG Inverter) maintain rated capacity down to 5°F and keep producing heat to -13°F. The 'heat pumps don't work up north' line is from 1990s technology.
How much can I save with Mass Save rebates?
Whole-home heat pump installs commonly qualify for meaningful rebates. Layer in the federal 25C tax credit and the HEAT loan and out-of-pocket can be very low.
Will I lose my old furnace?
Up to you. Many homeowners keep the old furnace as a backup for the coldest days (a 'hybrid' setup). Reliability is higher and rebates may still apply.
How long does install take?
Whole-home ducted: 2–3 days. Mini-split (1–2 zones): 1 day. Multi-zone (4+ heads): 2–3 days. We give you a firm schedule before we start.
